The facility

Built for cans, end to end.

Water treatment, blending, filling, seaming, retort sterilisation, sleeving and palletising all sit in the same building. Nothing is subcontracted out mid-process, which is what keeps a first run to roughly six to eight weeks.

Station by station

How a can gets made here.

Five stations, in the order your liquid moves through them.

Treated water and carbonation tanks feeding the blending stage

01 — Water & blending

Treated water, then your formula

Water is treated on site before it reaches the blend tanks. You can bring your own formula or have ours developed with you; either way the blending happens here rather than at a third party, so the recipe and the fill stay under one roof.

Filling machines running cans along the automatic line

02 — Filling

Hot-fill or cold-fill, same line

Still drinks — iced tea, coconut water, juices — run hot-fill with nitrogen dosing. Carbonated products run cold-fill with CO2. Which one your product needs is settled at the specification stage, before samples.

Can seaming station closing filled cans

03 — Seaming

The seal that decides shelf life

Lids are seamed immediately after fill, and seams are checked in process alongside CO2 and fill level. A bad seam is the fastest way to lose a batch, so it is the check we run most often.

Retort steriliser vessel used for thermal processing of filled cans

04 — Sterilisation

Retort processing for shelf stability

Filled and seamed cans are thermally processed in the retort so the product is shelf stable without a cold chain — which is what makes a Sri Lankan line workable for distant export markets.

Finished cases being stacked by the palletiser

05 — Sleeve, case & pallet

Finished, cased and ready to ship

Full-wrap shrink sleeves go on in line, then cans are cased and palletised. Because we import your cans, lids and sleeves as part of the project, the whole run stays a single point of contact.

Registered facility, with more than 25 export markets currently supplied from this site.

In-process quality control

Seam integrity, CO2 level and fill volume are checked during the run, not only at the end of it.

Questions

Facility FAQs.

Where is Samley's canning facility located?

Our canning line operates in Sri Lanka, alongside the tea and coconut operations we have run since 2015. Blending and filling happen in the same facility, under one roof.

What is the capacity of the canning line?

The line runs at up to 5,000 cans per hour in 250 ml and 355 ml formats, with both hot-fill and cold-fill capability on the same line.

What is the difference between hot-fill and cold-fill on your line?

Hot-fill with nitrogen dosing suits still drinks such as iced tea, coconut water and juices. Cold-fill with CO2 suits carbonated products such as sparkling water and soft drinks. Which one your product needs is decided at the specification stage.

Which certifications does the facility hold?

Production is FSSC 22000 certified and the facility is FDA registered. We supply more than 25 export markets.

Can I visit or audit the facility?

Yes. Buyers and brand owners are welcome to arrange a visit or a third-party audit. Get in touch and we will schedule it around a production run so you can see the line working.

Do you run your own drinks on this line?

Yes. Our own canned products, including Mango Tango sparkling cold-brew and our organic coconut and king coconut water, are produced on the same line we run co-packing projects on.
